
Have you added social media buttons to your broadcast email campaigns yet? More and more hosted services now offer the option to add social media links to your campaigns with a few simple clicks; but, which do you choose?

I suspect these “choices” aren’t very often really choices, as social media button widgets often come pre-assembled with five or more links. Sticking with default settings on just about anything is human nature-either due to laziness or not wanting to be different.
A question not asked with this survey is, “how effective is adding social media buttons to your email?” Previous studies show almost no traction. My personal experience with sending out tens of thousands of emails in the last few weeks with social media links bears this out: 0 clicks.
So, should you include them? I say it can’t hurt. It costs nothing. It adds to your image as being up to date. And, you never know, someone might actually click on one of them someday.
